Fellow Senators and Congresswomen,
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as the 42nd President of the Florida JCI Senate. Your board has a fun filled and active year planned. We encourage your continued support and involvement in the Senate. Remember the work you did in your chapter and the surprise when the chapter called you on stage to present that Black Badge with your Senate #. Let’s keep that excitement going this year!
For those of you I have not met, I migrated from Tennessee after serving as Senate President there and meeting Kay White #61747 at a national convention. We were married at the Bash and will celebrate our 6th anniversary at this year's Bash.
Our year has already started off with a bang, with a great year end banquet Emceed by our own 60th President of the US Jaycees, Terryl BUBBA Bechtol. Our annual Bash is already planned for the weekend of September 30 – October 2 at the Quality Inn in New Port Richey. It is a very nice hotel for our Bash that Ira Mosier started so many years ago and several other states and regions have tried to copy.
The theme this year is “Sharing the Booty.” The meaning of Booty is up to you. Sharing Jaycee and Senate memories, sharing time with the Jaycees and Senate, sharing with the Florida JCI Senate Foundation etc. We all have things to share with our Senate and Jaycee family. Let’s share together.
First Lady, Kay White #61747 has made her pet project this year Dream Oaks Camp. Many of you will remember when it started in 1971 with 7 cabins sponsored by Jaycees from across the state. The camp caters to autistic children and one of our grandchildren is affected. We will be looking for predominately material donations as well as financial. Dee Stone #59531 will be coordinating this project and I encourage your support.
This year offers the Florida JCI Senate opportunities that only occur once in a lifetime. Our own Steve Sutherland # 27073 will be President of the USJCI Senate 2011-2012. We need to show our support for Steve in any way possible but most importantly being a strong state organization. Also we will be hosting the USJCI Senate for the national convention in June 2012. The support of Steve and the manpower needed at the National convention will require a lot of “Sharing”
